A little Asian boy who lived in the UK once asked his dad, ‘Daddy, why is it that skin plasters are always white in colour?’
Intrigued by his innocence, the dad went straight online searching for coloured plasters.
‘Look here, my boy. There are so many shades of plasters. There is brown, yellow, black and even blue, green and red. You can chose the one you like.’ The boy looked at his dad and smiled.
The next morning the dad shared this story with one of his close friends. His friend told him how it had all backfired when their company tried adding coloured plasters to their first aid kits at work. ‘One person even said it was very racist’, she said.
A few days later, the dad called his mother-in-law in India. By coincidence, the old lady was wearing a plaster on her forehead.
‘Mum, why are skin plasters always white?’ dad asked.
Mum said sarcastically, ‘My wise son-in-law, don’t you know why?’
Nope, replied the dad.
So you know when it gets dirty.
